From the Guyana Gazette Forum...
Recently my sister was walking to the buspark in Parika when a swarm of "touts" as we know them descended on her trying to persuade her to go in their bus.She was confused and tried to tell them that she would chose a bus but to no avail. One seemingly intent man used a vile method to get her in his bus.He grabbed her and tried to force her and when she protested ,he began to abuse her in the most shameful manner. She tried to avoid him but he climbed into the bus she got into and continued to hurl his abusive words and she being a teenager ,began to cry.Noone tried to stop him not even the driver of the bus she was in.Can you imagine if this was your child ,how you would have felt?Where are the morals of people in this country? Are we a lost ,totally immoral people? Will we wait until someone is being raped in broad daylight to protest their treatment?I have left out a bit of information. The "tout" was trying to touch her in places he shouldnt have.Imagine how scared and confused this girl must have been.I hope that the traffic police try to get rid of these dangerous sexual predators who lurk on the streets and try to abuse our children. The man was so bold as to report the matter to the police .He claimed that the girl threatened to kill him.I am scared to think that such people exist and that no one tried to stop him even when he pointed in her face and tried to hit her!!!!I am against "touts" at bus parks....Conductors are enough .Someone should do something and rid the society of the primitive beasts roaming the buspark in Parika
