Dr Abu Bakr Bari and a female remained in custody up to yesterday following police raids conducted at three of his properties on Wednesday and the seizure of, among other things, ammunition.

A release from the police yesterday did not name the doctor but said on Wednesday they conducted several raids at three buildings owned by a prominent doctor at Kaieteur Road, Bel Air, Thomas Street and East Street.

The release said during the operation a quantity of articles including electrical and office equipment was taken into custody and a quantity of ammunition was seized.

The doctor and a female remain in custody as investigations continue.

Stabroek News was at the Thomas Street location and observed that the police carted of a generator, computers, a photocopier, a chainsaw, water coolers, speakers and other items.

Meanwhile, the release said police on the East Coast on Wednesday conducted early morning raids at Plaisance and Goedver- wagting.

Eleven houses were searched and 11 persons, including four females, were arrested for various offences, which include robbery under arms and possession of narcotics. A quantity of alcoholic beverages was also seized.
