The Canadian High Com-mission has announced the opening of the application process for funding of sustainable development projects from Canada Fund.

The release said that from April 1 this year the fund is now focused on initiatives in areas of governance, democracy and human rights in participating countries.

The commission urges interested organisations to submit a short concept paper, no longer than two pages, on any of the following areas: Strengthening and capacity building of civil society organisations including the creation and training of such entities; Promoting multiculturalism, ethnic harmony and tolerance through the development of training or cultural products that foster these values; Strengthening indigenous or Amerindian institutions and communities; Strengthening local government policy making and implementation and Increasing citizen participation in policy making.

Submissions should be addressed to the Head of Aid, Canadian High Commission, PO Box 10880, High and Young Streets, Kingston by May 31.
