PRESS RELEASE: AFC LAUNCHES IN THE CARIBBEAN

St George’s Grenada

The Alliance for Change (AFC) Caribbean Chapter has launched an affiliate base in the Caribbean with its headquarters in St. George’s Grenada. This Chapter has begun to attract the interest of Guyanese of all races and walks of life who live and work in the region.

The Caribbean Chapter is urging the leaders of the AFC to advocate for job creation, youth development and skills training for Guyana’s youth, in order to kick start the economy as well as to create meaningful community development and safe communities. We urge them to agitate against marginalization as claimed by some sectors of the Guyanese population. We urge the AFC to find and recommend solutions that will create a suitable environment for investments and job opportunities for all. We urge them to continue proposing constitutional, parliamentary, political inclusiveness, socio- economic and security reforms that are progressive.

The spiraling crime rate, characterized in recent times by a seeming inability of the Government to get a grip on this situation, and the issue of security, remains the paramount concern of Guyanese both at home and abroad. This is causing Guyanese to leave their country in large numbers as they are scared and in despair at the seeming inability of the authorities to arrest the crime situation. This of course results in a declining economy which attracts very little new investments.

Guyanese in the Caribbean remain mobilized to return home to the land of our birth to get on with the business of nation building. We remain committed to harnessing the great potential of Guyana as it sits poised as the gateway to South America and the bridge to the Caribbean, the region’s food basket, and an eco tourism paradise, under the leadership of the AFC.

We share with our brothers and sisters of AFC Chapters worldwide, a vision of political and socio-economic change. At this time Guyana needs the intervention and prayers of our people both at home and abroad. Know that Guyanese overseas are ready and willing to come home, once we know that we can live in peace, racial harmony, security, and earn livable wages as is expected by all Guyanese, given the natural bounty, beauty and potential of our homeland.

Indeed the time has come for Guyanese people to vote for competent leaders with a truly patriotic vision, focused on reclaiming our birthright, concerned with the future of Guyana’s children. The AFC Caribbean Chapter stands with the leaders of the AFC during this time of change for Guyana. We urge all Guyanese: Vote for Change.
