• Eight yrs. for wounding in-law

Ex-Guyana Defence Force rank and American citizen, Kenneth Sydney was yesterday sentenced to 23 years jail for the killing of his wife, Florence Sydney and the wounding of his brother's wife, Pauline George.

Sydney , nicknamed 'Ringo', received the judgment decreed by Justice Dawn Gregory-Barnes with a composed, staid expression.

He initially maintained his innocence of the July 13, 2003 slaying at Nabaclis, East Coast Demerara.

However, Sydney “threw in the towel” mid-trial claiming extreme provocation and pleaded no contest to manslaughter.
