This is not a painting of GT in 1888. The flag flying on the flag pole is the French Tricolour, the one in the middle is the White with red coquette of Paris and the one above is the original French Monarchical Flag. This has to be a scene from a French colony some-time after 1794 and most likely during one of the Monarchical restoration periods in the 1800s.
