Two weeks on... Waddell's murder still big mystery

Police have picked up no new lead in the shooting to death of talk show host Ronald Waddell although two men have been in custody since last week and with two weeks gone since the murder, pressure is likely to build for external help.

With no significant break in the case so far, questions are being raised about whether the persons in custody are the ones the police should be seeking. The police have come under pressure to produce results or to seek external help to solve the case. Home Affairs Minister Gail Teixeira has said it would be up to the police to ask for help in the case.

Police said they are still seeking more people, some of who have been fingered in the execution of the 57-year-old political activist outside his Subryanville home. The two men have been subjected to intense grilling from detectives, according to police sources.

Waddell's shooting has been linked to a city-based death squad and was carried out by two men reportedly armed with AK 47s.
